SaphirMatt® – AEG's Most Scratch-Resistant Hob Surface

One of the defining features of the AEG TO64IB00FZ is its premium SaphirMatt® glass surface. Rather than conventional glossy black ceramic glass, the hob has an elegant matt black finish designed to complement contemporary UK kitchens.

AEG describes SaphirMatt® as its most scratch-resistant hob surface, claiming it is up to 10 times more scratch-resistant than its standard ceramic glass hobs without special treatment. The surface is also designed to resist fingerprints, helping the hob retain its minimalist appearance with less visible marking during everyday use. AEG bases the scratch-resistance claim on external abrasion testing to IEC 60068-2-70 and its own assessment of scratch visibility.

Bridge Function – Create a Larger Cooking Zone

The Bridge function lets you combine two separate induction zones into one larger cooking area. Once linked, the zones operate together with aligned temperature and time settings.

This is particularly useful when cooking with large roasting pans, oversized cookware or plancha/griddle plates, where a standard circular cooking zone may not provide sufficient coverage.

Four Powerful Induction Cooking Zones

The TO64IB00FZ has four induction zones, each providing fast and responsive heating:

PowerBoost operation for up to 10 minutes on the two 210mm zones and 180mm zone, and up to 4 minutes on the 145mm zone.

Direct Touch Controls – 14 Power Settings

AEG's Direct Touch Controls provide individual numbered settings from 1 to 14, allowing the required heat level to be selected directly rather than repeatedly pressing plus or minus buttons.

The front-mounted touch interface contributes to the hob's clean, streamlined appearance because there are no raised knobs or conventional switches.

PowerBoost for Rapid Heating

For occasions when maximum heat is required quickly, PowerBoost temporarily increases the output of the selected induction zone.

AEG states that PowerBoost can bring water to the boil in less than 90 seconds under its specified test conditions, making it useful for tasks such as boiling pasta water or rapidly heating a large saucepan.

Hob2Hood® Automatic Cooker Hood Control

The Hob2Hood® system enables compatible AEG cooker hoods to communicate wirelessly with the hob.

When cooking, a compatible hood can automatically adjust its extraction level according to activity on the hob – increasing extraction during intensive cooking and reducing it during gentler simmering. This means the cook can concentrate on preparing food rather than repeatedly changing the hood settings.

Pause Function

If cooking needs to be interrupted temporarily, the Pause function allows you to reduce the cooking zones without losing the original settings.

When cooking resumes, the previous settings can be restored, making the function useful when answering the door, dealing with another dish or temporarily stepping away from the hob.

EcoTimer™ for Efficient Cooking

EcoTimer™ is designed to make use of residual heat. It switches the cooking zone off before the programmed cooking time has completely elapsed, allowing remaining heat to finish the cooking process and helping improve energy efficiency.

A separate Minute Minder can also be used to keep track of cooking times.

OptiFix™ Installation

AEG equips the TO64IB00FZ with its OptiFix™ installation system, designed to simplify fitting the hob into the worktop.

The appliance measures 590 × 520mm (W × D) and requires built-in dimensions of 44 × 560 × 490mm (H × W × D).
